What is a Babywearing Consultation?

Whether you’re an expectant parent new to the world of babywearing, someone who’d like to try a different type of sling or carry, or someone trying something new (such as babywearing while pregnant or wearing more than one child), a Babywearing Consultation will allow you one-to-one time with a trained Babywearing Consultant.

Having attended courses with the School of Babywearing, I have trained in anatomy, physiology and baby development, the principles of babywearing and the practical skills of babywearing.

During a consultation, I will assess your needs and make appropriate recommendations, as well as showing you how to use any slings that you currently own.

A variety of Consultation packages are available.  Many include carrier hire from the available stock of the Sheffield Sling Library.  Prior to the Consultation, we will discuss your needs and circumstances, following which I will plan a session to suit your situation.

A number of packages are available including an Antenatal Package, New Baby Package, and New-to-Babywearing Package.  In addition, I can deliver an Introduction to Babywearing workshop to a group of parents/parents-to-be.  Contact me for further details.

Why arrange a Consultation?

Every consultation will be unique, as each depends on the parents' needs and is designed by me with that particular family in mind.  However, there are a number of circumstances in which parents may seek a consultation.
  • Some approach a Consultant during pregnancy, with a view to finding a carrier they are confident using once their baby is born.
  • Others are looking for help during the first few weeks as they adjust to life with a newborn.
  • Many have been happily carrying their baby for a while, but are now looking for help with the Next Step - ready to move on from a stretchy wrap; or baby becoming too heavy for a front carry.
Whatever your individual situation, I will tailor a session for you so contact me to discuss your needs.
